The snout on the gear cover & motor mount part was badly worn where it rested on its front cross member cradle. Repair was made in the lathe by clamping the snout to the turning chuck, while a fixed cutting tool removes thin shavings of metel until the snout is again round. Ryan machined a new sleeve replacement, returning it to the orignial diameter and strength as manfactured in about 1929.
